Jerusalem House Hummos, Baba Ghanouj, Grape Leaves, Black Bean Hummous Dip, and Salsa De Jardin
The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) announced that Jerusalem House of Eugene, Oregon is recalling all varieties and sizes of containers of Hummos products, Baba Ghanouj, Grape Leaves, Black Bean Hummous Dip, Salsa De Jardin, and Tahini products because they may contain a chemical contaminant. All products are packaged under the Jerusalem House brand except for the Original Tahini, which is packaged under the Earth Gourmet Foods brand.
The recalled products were distributed at all Market of Choice locations in Oregon (which includes Portland, Eugene, Corvallis, and Ashland), Friendly Street Market, (Eugene), Sundance Natural Foods (Eugene), Capella, (Eugene), and First Alternative Natural Foods Co-Op (Corvallis). Original Tahini in 15 pound plastic containers was sold directly to customers ordering the product from the firm.
The products comes in 4, 6, 7, 14 ounce clear plastic containers except for the Original Tahini (Raw and Roasted) which comes in 14 ounce glass jars and 15 pound white plastic buckets. All containers are marked with a pull date except for the Original Tahini products under the Earth Gourmet Foods brand. The pull date is a green sticker placed on the side of the containers.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The company noted the potential for contamination and after consultation with ODA the recall was initiated. Production of the product has been suspended while ODA and the Jerusalem House continue their investigation.
