US Food Safety Restaurant Surveys

US Food Safety is announcing the results of its first national survey about the influence of restaurant cleanliness on consumers' dining decisions.

More than 70 percent of survey takers cited food quality and taste as the primary reasons for choosing a restaurant. Only 15 percent cited sanitation as a factor in their restaurant choice. Nearly 54 percent of respondents stated that they avoided looking into the food prep area for fear of what they might see.
