Beef and Ground Meat Recalls Summary

Following is a summary of most beef and ground meat recalls since June 8, 2009:

Sterling Pacific Meat Co. Recalls 3,516 lbs of Fatburger brand and Cattleman's Choice brand Ground Beef due to Possible E. coli Contamination (August 13)
Beef Packers, Inc. Recalls 825,769 lbs of Ground Beef due to Possible Salmonella Contamination (August 2)
King Soopers, Inc. Recalls 466,236 lbs of Ground Beef due to Possible Salmonella Contamination (July 22)
JBS Swift Beef Company Recalls 380,000 lbs of Beef Products due to Possible E. coli Contamination (June 24; Updated June 28)
Snow Creek Meat Processing Recalls 75 lbs of Beef Trimmings due to Possible E. coli Contamination (June 8)

These recalls encompass an astonishing 1,675,596 pounds of beef and ground meat. Detailed information regarding each recall is available by clicking on the appropriate link above.

Products from JBS Swift Beef Company, Beef Packers, and Sterling Pacific Meat Co. were sent to establishments and retail stores nationwide for further processing and will likely not bear the names of "Swift," "Beef Packers" or "Sterling Pacific," having been packaged under different brand names.

Although the recalled products may no longer be available for consumer purchase, consumers may have stored them in the freezer, and should look for and discard or destory these products. (See each of the recall notices for product information.)

Most locations on this list received beef products from Swift Beef Company. Locations that received beef, beef trimmings or ground meat from other suppliers are noted, based on available information. FSIS did not provide any retail locations for Sterling Pacific Meat Co. Consumers are therefore cautioned to be aware of Fatburger brand and Cattleman's Choice brand ground meat products of Sterling Meat Co.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has reason to believe the following locations received beef product(s) that were recalled. This list may not include all establishments and retail locations that received the products or may include retail locations that did not actually receive them.
